Workbench Desk

When I moved out of my college apartment, my Ikea particle-board desk self-destructed, leaving me nothing to rest my computer on or cover with papers. As the majority of my time is spent in front of a computer, I was forced to kludge together a desk ASAP. And kludge was the right word.

That's a desk made from all the scrap lumber the local Home Depot chucked into their dumpster. Not quite artful.

As my current occupation requires that I sit at a desk, and by the time I get home, I'm sick of sitting, I decided to make a new, less kludgey desk, ergonomically adjusted to my standing height, and robust enough to use as a workbench for soldering, assembly, etc. I worked out a rough size of lumber and a shape I liked, and the total cost of construction.

I mocked it up in CAD to make sure all the parts fit right...

With that decided, all it took was a quick montage...

...and it was ready to roll.
