THE BEAST - Custom Trumpet Modification

One summer, when I was just lounging about the house with nothing to do for about a week before drum corps season started in earnest, I thought to myself, "Y'know, Josh, that Necronomicon Ex Mortis is just sitting around in your room doing nothing. You really should get down to some serious demon-summoning before you go back to corps." So, in order to make the most out of things, I decided to try out my hand at arcane magik using an old Jupiter trumpet (my first real TRUMPET trumpet) to channel various evil energies.

This picture was taken immediately after the summoning was complete, the natural laws perverted and twisted into a mockery of all reality, etc. I replaced all the cross-braces except the ones on the leadpipe/tuning slide with .25" brass sheet. The hardest part was fitting the contour of the final bend before the bell, as well as getting the horizontal lead pipe/bell stem braces to stay in place during soldering.

The instrument weighs significantly more than a standard trumpet now, as you might imagine (what with all the evil in it), almost 5 pounds. This was instrumental (MUAHAHAHAHAhahahaha...hahaha...sorry) in conditioning weaker trumpet players in drum corps to hold their horns up correctly, as a droopy horn would be replaced by THE BEAST.

(Also, in case you were wondering, THE BEAST is a egotistic demon indeed, and if you don't write its name in all caps...well...bad things happen.)
